Vision of the Son of Man

Samantha asked me last night why people paint pictures of God the way they do. I didn't understand at first, so I asked her if she meant pictures of Jesus (human). I was going to tell her that's not really Him, that's just how someone painted Jesus a couple of hundred years ago who never actually saw Jesus in person. Then she says no, God with white hair! I'm thinking she must have seen some new age picture and thought it was God, you know that really weird stuff people put on the internet. Then it struck me, she saw a representation of Revelation 1. So I start reading it to her and I can't finish reading it for crying. Usually I am kinda down on myself because I want to be further along in my sanctification than I am. But it's moments like this I feel the Spirit in me. The thought of sharing with my children what we will see when the Lord comes back was just too much for me (not me, but the Spirit in me.) Feeling just a small amount of the love that the Spirit has for the Son is so overwhelming. It's those moments that keep me going; otherwise I might be too discouraged with myself. Thank you God for Your Word and the precious glimmers of Hope that you give us!
Vision of the Son of Man
".. I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet saying, “Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches...
Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest. The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength.
When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades..."
(Revelation 1:10-18, ESV)
