Youth Trip to Lake Martin

Jessica went to the BYG summer kick off at Lake Martin. They stayed at Mr. Matt's house and he grilled some really great food for them! I hear he should be a chef. I am so jealous!
I didn't take these pictures, Sue did, but I am wondering why Mr. Matt is letting Jess get away with playing on her iPhone!
Kenzi, Jessica and Kendra.
They got tatoos on a youth trip?

Kelsey and Jessica were really good friends in Kindergarten but we haven't seen her since until this summer!
Here's a picture of them back in the day:
Jess had a great time and she is really enjoying being in the youth group this summer. Thanks to Mr. Matt and Mrs. Beth for helping to make this a smooth transition!

Colassal Coaster! VBS 2013

The last day of VBS started out as a catastrope!
Samantha threw up all over Jessica's bedroom!
If this had a been a school morning she would have been happy
to stay out of school but not VBS!
The first thing she asked was, "Can I still be in the program tonight?"
She did have to miss VBS that morning
but made it to the program that night!
Samantha started off the program by welcoming everyone to
Colassal Coaster World!

Here's the theme song!

I love their shirts this year. The kids tie dyed them for one of their crafts!
Sam's getting into the theme song.
She made it through the program!!!

Turtle Power

The girls made a new friend today.
Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’
says the Lord of hosts. Zech. 4:6

"Anytime you see a turtle up on top of a fence post, you know he had some help." Alex Haley
I found a great blog post about this quote:
The late Alex Haley, who wrote Roots, had a unique picture on his office wall of a turtle sitting on top of a fence post. Whenever someone asked about it, Haley would say, "If you see a turtle on a fence post, you know that he had some help. Any time I start thinking, 'Wow, isn't this marvelous what I've done?' I look at that picture and remember how this turtle, me, got up on that post."
(Leadership as cited in The Best of In Other Words, 1996, 135).

VBS Has Begun!

The most wonderful time of the year is here again!
Samantha loves VBS as much or more than I do.
She suggested today that we have it in June and again in July!
She was so proud to hold the Bible this morning.
Jessica's group was invited to VBS this year!
Paisley and Jessica
The theme this year is Colassal Coaster.
Painting is one of the best parts of VBS.
I have no idea what I did with the pictures of my classroom but I taught 1st and 2nd grade again this year!
We learned about Paul's conversion and perseverance through difficult times while spreading the Gospel.
VBS Motto:
Facing Fears! Trusting God!
Bible Verse:
2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fearfulness; but one of power, love and sound judgement.
Libby and Jessica
Jess and Sam's masterpieces!

And they are God's masterpiece;
born in His image given the power to live as the hands and feet of Jesus!
John 14:12
“Truly, truly, I say to you,
whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do;
and greater works than these will he do,
because I am going to the Father.
