Sam's Wild Ride

Everything started out fine...
The girls were just riding along and everybody was happy.
Then Clint started getting a little to rowdy with his driving.

Samantha told him to slow down a little.
Galyne and Jessica didn't want him to slow down and they gave
Samantha a hard time about it.
Sam said okay y'all be that way.
I'll get off the tube and drive you guys.
They were not expecting this wild ride!

Let's hope they remember not to mess
with Samantha next time they go tubing!
I think they learned their lesson!

New Friends, New Boat!

Clint's friend Jody sold his Ski Nautique to Stinson a couple of weeks ago. It looks a lot like the Bumblebee, wait we renamed it the Yellow Jacket. I think our boat should be called Bumblebee again and the new boat should be called the Yellow Jacket. Sorry Clint, it's just cooler than our boat!
Unfortunately, Tami and Ellie had to stay in Montgomery for cheer practice, but Claire finally came home from Nashville!
And brought Nashville friends back with her.
Stinson's songwriting friends from Nashville spent the weekend at the lake. Now I know why the Slawsons spend so much time in Nashville with them. They are great guys. I really enjoyed spending the day with them and I hope we get to see them a lot more next summer.

Stinson vs. The Girls

The girls all got on the big tube together...
and Stinson was on the small one by himself.
I think he thought he was riding a wild Bronco.
A wild Bronco that likes to trample people.

Looks like Ellie is ready to fight after that last stunt.

Time for a break.
Samantha, Lucy and Ellie look like alligators in the lake.
I love the lazy days of summer. I can't believe school starts next week!

The Slawson's are Back

The Slawson's are back at the lake and the water has filled the lake back up after all the rain we've had
so we were able to get the Nautique back in the water!

I did not have the big lens on my camera so you have to click on the pictures to see them good.

Clint decided to get in on the action when Anna wanted a break.
Because Clint is heavier than the kids the tube he and Samantha were on was a lot more fun to ride.
Yee Haw!

Osprey Hunting at the Lake

I couldn't get a good picture of the Osprey (Sea Hawk/Fish Eagle)
swooping down in the water because it was flying too fast
and it was out of focus, but it was really cool.
I have yet to get a good picture of the Bald Eagle that lives at the lake.
I see it a lot but never seem to have my camera ready at the right time.
"When your eyes light on it, it is gone, for suddenly it sprouts wings,
flying like an eagle toward heaven." Proverbs 23:5

Spider's Web

Isn't it beautiful!
"The spider skillfully grasps with its hands,
and it is in kings’ palaces" Proverbs 30:28
That is one talented spider!

I love this blog post from Discovery:
"SPIDERS IN THE BIBLE"
BERT THOMPSON
Did you know that the Bible often uses plants, insects, or animals to teach important spiritual truths? Jesus once said to His disciples, "Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves" (Matthew 10:16). Jesus wanted His followers to know that they would not always be liked, but that despite that, they should act intelligently and correctly. The writer of Proverbs suggested that we "go to the ant" so we can "consider her ways and be wise" (6:6). The tiny ant works hard and accomplishes much. We should do likewise, not just in our physical lives but in our spiritual lives as well.
The Bible also uses spiders to teach spiritual lessons. In Proverbs, we find this statement. "The spider skillfully grasps with its hands, and it is in kings’ palaces" (30:28). In the verses immediately before this, the writer also discussed ants, badgers, and locusts. His point was that these creatures are not very large or powerful, but they still are very successful at what they do because they act wisely and use their talents well. The spider weaves a beautiful and highly complex web using chemicals from its own body. Then, it uses its tiny "hands" to grasp the unsuspecting prey that gets caught in the web. While the spider itself may not be very big, seem very smart, or look very powerful, its appearance is deceiving. In fact, it even lives in kings’ palaces, where, apparently, it has the run of the place. It prevails and succeeds despite its tiny size and unimpressive looks.
The prophet Isaiah also used spiders to teach an important lesson. He spoke of people who were so evil that they "hatch vipers’ eggs and weave the spider’s web" (59:5). Isaiah did not mean, of course, that these people literally hatch eggs and weave webs. Instead, he was using these characteristics of reptiles (vipers) and insects (spiders) to describe folks who were evil. They plotted against those around them and used a "web of deception" to trick people. But in the next verse, Isaiah said, "their webs will not become garments, nor will they cover themselves with their works." In other words, even though a spider can weave an intricate and complex web, that web cannot hide the spider. And even though sinful people can weave an intricate and complex web of deception, we cannot hide them from God. He still knows what they are doing. This is the point the writer of Hebrews was making when he said: "And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account" (4:13). The next time you see a spider, remember these important lessons. You may not be very powerful, but you can still accomplish much for God. And when you do something that is wrong, you cannot hide it from Him because He sees and knows everything. Therefore, we must do our best to live according to His Word, the Bible.
